Master Mehrdad Khan Moayedi is the founder and CEO of World Shin Do Kumaté Association, Inc. He began teaching traditional Martial Arts and Muay Thai in the Tampa Bay area in 1992 and opened his first Dojang in St. Petersburg, Florida the following year. In 2007, he relocated his business to Feather Sound in Clearwater, FL where he currently teaches the Art of Shin Do Kumaté, and builds high ranking Martial Art Black Belt students and champion fighters.
The discipline taught by Master Mehrdad is unique and only taught by him. His unique style was developed from a combination of disciplines that stem from his deep rooted training of Kung Fu, Hapkido, Muay Thai, Tae Keuk Do, Wrestling, and Persian Martial Arts. He ultimately founded/created his own philosophical Martial Arts and unique fighting system which formulates into the style of Shin Do Kumaté “The Way of Fighting Spirit” or “The Way of Higher Power”.
As a professional Muay Thai fighter, Heavy Weight Title Champion and 8th Dan Black Belt Martial Artists, Master Mehrdad is considered one of the most authentic Martial Arts Masters in North America – especially coming from under the intense teachings of Grandmaster In Suk Pak. His studies in the Far East included Kong Shin Bup – Hap Ki Do, Tae Keuk Do, Kung Fu, Yoga, Persian Wrestling and Muay Thai. His teachings are based on traditional training, eastern philosophy and the knowledge passed down to him by prominent Grandmasters of the Far East and Asia, namely his first teacher Mr. Hassen Vaghiey of Persia/Iran, and ultimately his last teacher, Grandmaster In Suk Pak of Korea.
Regarded as an “old school” instructor and fighter, Master Mehrdad teaches the true fundamentals of Martial Arts, physical fitness training and fighting system. The combination of the arts learned and studied by Master Mehrdad for over 40 years have made him a highly accomplished and educated Master and trainer. Master Mehrdad has what it takes for eager students seeking skills, technique, fitness, enlightenment, and knowledge of Far Eastern philosophy, as well as for those seeking to become the next biggest named fighter in the world in amateur or professional Muay Thai and MMA fighting. In addition to the Martial Arts, Master Mehrdad also has a strong reputation for helping people avoid surgeries and rehabilitate past injuries by rebuilding and strengthening joints and flexibility using techniques he developed from his knowledge of deep yoga and fitness training.
Master Mehrdad’s Creed of Teaching
It is essential that all martial arts students and fitness members, parents, and newcomers fully understand Master Mehrdad’s system of teaching. His teachings are based on traditionalism and the fundamentals of his unique art, of which he has devoted his entire life. His knowledge is unique and contrary to today’s commercialized style. His philosophy is that true Martial Arts have many branches. The teachings of Martial Arts can be used both as a tool by which to live a healthy balanced life or a path to become the greatest Martial Artist or fighter of all time, as well as to get into your best fitness shape of your life.
Few of today’s Martial Arts teachers and fitness gurus can demonstrate the same wisdom and knowledge that Master Mehrdad gained through his lifelong journey. Each individual possesses many talents. Some must search long and hard for their talents and some are born with great natural abilities, but each must work hard every day to refine and develop these talents throughout their lifetime if he/she is to rise to their most powerful potential.
Master Mehrdad practices what he preaches by demonstrating his Martial Arts skills, whether through his numerous Martial Arts demonstrations or by stepping into the ring and fighting the very best fighters of all time. He consistently proves his skills or challenges himself by pushing his training to the limit. Master Mehrdad has been selected to compete by other fighting organizations for his talents and reputation for demonstrating his ability as a true Master and full-contact fighter.
He brings his passion and love for teaching into his Dojo and shares his knowledge with all his students. He believes that the way of Martial Arts is established by the relationships between the Master and his students, his art, and the Dojang itself. In return he asks for respect, honor, morals, values, and the acceptance of the principles of eastern philosophy, which have been practiced for thousands of years. He shows all of this by the way he demonstrates his art and the manner in which he shares his knowledge.
Master Mehrdad’s Martial Arts ranking philosophy is that each student must earn their rank in Martial Arts through hard work, dedication, and honor. One must respect the art and should never misuse it or initiate confrontational encounters. Children are taught honor, respect, and discipline and don’t achieve black belt ranks until a minimum age of 16.
There is no price that can be placed on knowledge. Knowledge is priceless and should be honorably given and acknowledged as a privilege. You are not in a commercial school. You are being trained in a traditional Martial Arts school and are not given a ranking… you earn a ranking. You are not given knowledge, you earn knowledge.
Master Mehrdad and his organization became the first licensed promoter in history to sanction a professional fight outside of Boxing with the Florida State Boxing and Athletic Commission. In 2005, the State of Florida appointed his organization WSDKA an official sanctioning/governing body to oversee amateur kickboxing events.
As a respected business owner and fight industry expert with an extraordinary ability to match fighters, Master Mehrdad also understands the sports and entertainment industry. The combination of these attributes makes him a very strong leader in the fight industry. His vision and intuitions to venture into an untapped market motivated him to televise his very first event. He produced twenty-six amateur Muay Thai fights and subsequently fifteen professional Shin Do Kumaté events for global television. He contributed his expertise to the production of these shows by sitting in as the play by play ringside commentator on occasion for Shin Do Kumaté fights and he later served as Executive Producer and Host for the Strykerz weekly television fights series. Prior to partnering with media distribution partners, he himself acquired network distribution for the live events, including Pay Per View and Video On Demand license deals.
